The Belt of Truth

Jn. 8:31-32 defines the belt of truth:
How?

Jn. 8:36  The fruit of deception or falsehood is a short-term happiness followed by eternal unhappiness and pain, until confessed for freedom.
 
The fruit of truth fruit starts with short-term pain or hurt, but then truth leads to eternal joy, freedom and maturity.
