Cannon - Old Testament: Deut. 4:2 - Do not add or subtract - change the scriptures. Writings subsequent to about 430 B.C. were not accepted by the Jewish people generally as having equal authority with the rest of Scripture. The Apocrypha should not be regarded as part of Scripture. Jesus and the New Testament authors quote various parts of the Old Testament Scriptures as divinely authoritative over 295 times, but not once do they cite any statement from the books of the Apocrypha.
New Testament: Revelation 22:18-19 Do not add or subtract - change the scriptures, Hebrews 1:1-2 Bible after the time of the New Testament. The canon is now closed.
